Unlike other prototype designs, this design is to go intro production later this year with an unspecified manufacturer, according to Businessweek.
"Intel wants to stimulate the conversation," says Roger Kay, president of consultancy Endpoint Technologies Associates.
Other design-oriented features include different color choices, one side featuring an E Ink screen, and the addition of a shoulder strap.

Apple has been rumored to be entering the market with a flash-based laptop in the near future. Rumors have touched on the possibilities of an ultra thin model. Apple's recent patent applications have revealed that they are actively working on thinner/stronger enclosures for future laptop designs.
I think the laptop being thin and lightweight would be great for busy travelers as it could be easily carried around where ever they go. But, usually you have to pay a hefty price for convenience and I just hope it wouldn't happen to this particular item.
This is what people call "technology" these times
Umm, this is looking very good, but for me, this is thin enough, thinner really would become too much
Disadvantage of lightweight: if it becomes too lightweight, who knows, it might fly away when you sit outsite ..
Considering the advantages and disadvantages mentioned, how about a thicker version than the proposed laptop but thinner than the thinnest laptop available in the market today? This way you will still have the convenience to carry it around but it is stronger and with a bigger harddrive.
