I have worked on a mac (OS 10.1 ish) and I didn't mind it. Obviously, it was designed by artists, not engineers. This makes it pretty, but not particularly logical or fast.
Windows is designed by engineer, so things may not run perfectly, but things are quickly accessible... once you learn how to use it.
ME sucks to me because every time I have played with it, It has crashed on me. Not to mention it was slow and often buggy. Windows 95, on the other hand was quick and responsive, but lacked many features that were later added in windows 98SE (my favorite OS before, and for the first year of, XP).
I hated XP at first because it was layed out in a new fashion that seemed bizzare to me. It also gave TONS of worthless information. However, once I ran XP, I learned how to disable the stupid parts and how to find things and now I love it. But I still hate windows. And I am too lazy to use Linux. And Mac... well, its Mac.
Why do you still hate windows although you've bought various versions of it? Silly. If you truly hated windows you would never buy the software and you would never put it near your computer.
If I have to be truthfull.. I think it might have to be ME.. and I don't even have ME (but I have used it).. the new features were cool, and the UI was better.. but the reliability sucked.
I liked 95 and 98.. and never really had too many problems.. I think I like XP the most.
linux would be quite the move considering the major differences in just using the main file system. Setting up programs are mostly still command-line based (ive tried linux for awhile) the drives are not lettered they are named somewhat like mac but more functional (ie. dev/hda1)
Plus not all the kick butt games are good for linux :( otherwise id make the move tomorrow

Actually, quite a few good games are moving into Linux, like Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory & World of Warcraft.

I don't know what MS was thinking when they released it, but my personal opinion was they just released it to sate the hungry masses well before XP arrived on scene. I still have a copy of ME for posterity, but I never plan to install it again. It has so many bugs that they can eat you and so many holes that you could fall through them.
95 and 98 weren't bad at all with 98SE being better than either. XP is still the most stable MS platform I've seen yet once you know how to configure it (notification balloons = terrible idea).
yes they really screwed up with ME. windows xp is for me at least the best system they have released to date, i hope vista is better ot just as good would be cool with me
There are only 3 Microsoft OS's which I have found to not suck: Windows 98SE, windows 2000, and windows XP (well, this actually includes like 4: Home, Pro, MediaCenter 03, MediaCenter 05)
NT is somewhat stable, but has always been for server type applications, and doesn't work well with all software.

i didnt like 2000 i only really like xp now, but will only use windows 98se when i cant use xp or a linux distro
Windows 95 - SUCKED Windows 98v1- SUCKED big time NT - not so bad ME - They really screwed up this one 3.1 - Still to me the most stable fast OS ever to come out of MS xp - my personal fav
Win2k is basically WinXP minus its extended hardware support, driver database, and flashy colours. Windows XP obviously added some every-day things like a built in FTP client, integrated zip archiver and such. I run Win2k on my laptop, as it uses far less resources and doesn't hog my massive 96mb of RAM :D
