Big Brother, it is a profitable, highly ideological, institution driven and subliminally expensive "interactive" reality TV show.
The show's name comes from George Orwell's novel 1984, in which Big Brother is the all-seeing leader of the dystopian Oceania; but it seems Big Brother has more control over people, ironically, than we think, with 1984 being consciously aped by producers for public entertainment. Yes. More than the 15 people in that television studio.
Some versions have been filled with sex-crazed housemates, whereas others decided to base the conflict within their programs around difficult or romantic personalities.

Amid the storm over alleged racist comments in Celebrity Big Brother, the show's makers have been cast as both winners and losers.
Peak audiences for the series jumped from 3.5 million on Monday to 5.2 million on Wednesday, and the show has been making front page headlines for days.
But the withdrawal of main sponsor Carphone Warehouse may have demonstrated there is such a thing as bad publicity.
The racism was probably planned to cause this soar in ratings; and they even choose deliberately the conflicting personalties, including those over race, sexuality, culture, background and social status. After all, that's what makes the program.
You have to do your own reading in, and philosophy, but is Big Brother just a Big Brother to its viewers...? In effect... or at least to its Working class less intellectual audience?

Media regulator Ofcom has now received around 3,500 complaints about alleged racism in the Celebrity Big Brother house, with Channel 4 fielding a further 1,000 complaints about the show.
It is believed that a number of websites are urging people to contact Ofcom and Channel 4 about the issue. "They are coming in in their droves. I believe that a lot of them have come in by email," an Ofcom spokeswoman said.
But while Channel 4 said it will not tolerate any racist abuse on Celebrity Big Brother, the broadcaster defended its decision not to intervene in the group dynamics despite the unpleasantness, saying it had to portray events "accurately".
"We don't tolerate any racist abuse in any form," the Channel 4 spokeswoman said. "Big Brother is closely monitoring all the housemates and will take appropriate measures to reprimand such behaviour where necessary."
Whether or not it is "racist" or not is another matter, the fact is its amazing publicity. It really is.
Personally I think that Jade was originally sent into the house to cause controversy but I don’t think that Jade’s apparent racist views were planned by either her or Channel 4 (mainly because it’s career suicide on Jade’s part & it leaves Channel 4 open for legal actions in many ways).
Mind you I don’t think it’s racism to begin with, I think it’s just women being bitches because they didn’t like one another…..just reminds me of school really.
well personally, i didn't watch it, but i did see glimpses of it on GMTV in teh mornings. It didn't look like racism as such, more as you say bitching between that group of girls and shilpa. none the less i think C4 shouldn't have intervened and highlighted some of the issues in britain as such, with "racism". My area as a whole is quite asian prodominant so there's not much racism, but there can be a lot of confliction between some white people and asians. personally i think its all a bit stupid but yeah
