Freeware Programs & Applications

I know there are a lot of people out there that would rather not pay for commercial software to get certain things done. Because of this many end up downloading the software illegally (aka pirating). This topic is meant to point out the tons of freeware applications that are available so people do not resort to pirating.

If you have any free software that you recommend please help this thread and other members by posting it. However, do not post any illegal downloads. Also, please try not to just list every piece of freeware that you know of. Only mention the ones that you have used and recommend highly. It is best if this list is made up of the best or the better freeware available. If you do find that one of the programs listed below really do suck (e.g. it's bundles with spyware), then either reply or PM me. Please don't reply or PM me with something along the lines of \"X sucks, Y is TONS better!\" Those will just be ignored. If you find that software listed below just rocks then let others know about it. Things like \"OMG Y program is awesome\" doesn't help though.

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is free? Wow. Looks like another version of Call of Duty. I'm downloading it ASAP.

Americas Army i played a while ago and recently downloaded the new Special Forces MOD and its superb!!!!!! and to answer PC geeks post lets say www.runescape.com is a game for ALL ages its an RPG game you need to build up your stats from cooking levels fishing levels crafting levels to magic levels defence levels attack levels ranging levels and much more like thiefing and runecrafting and even agility and farming!!!! its an awsome game there are 1000s of people to interact with even trade items and guess what THERES NOTHING TO DOWNLOAD!!!! you need not wait hours for this game to download even tho its a BIG game you can just click and play on your browser!! Dont forget i told you about this game :D any money from the game is much appreciated lol :D im called hoaxsosimple and im lvl 58 :D took a while to get there lol!!

Drew, do we need to register to Wolfenstein's website in order to download it? Because I keep receiving an error saying \"Trying to Access Restricted Area.\"

I added Sygate to the Firewalls section.

I added zonealarm, it's what I have used for the past few years and has done me well.

I have had no problems with it, either.

Anyways, you might want to add WinAmp, CCleaner, Spybot Search & Destroy, Steve Gibsons research tools and stuff...

xoft spy 4.15 and adaware se 1.06 are standing top 5 for anti spy ware. kaspersky and norton and pc cillion standing top 3 in anti virus. mcafee droped from 47th to 76th place.

you can find rankings by symply googleing it. Type in top anti spy ware and so on.

Could you provide us a link?

I will be adding a lot later so don't worry. I have just been busy. There are going to be much more categories too.

You should add the Mozilla Suite to the list of browsers.

EDIT: You should also add the GIMP and OpenOffice.org ;)
