Fedora Core is the community supported version of Red Hat. The *real* red hat costs $$$$
You're basically paying for support...I don't know the difference between the Red Hat Core and the Fedora Core but believe you me, there is a difference.

In all the years I've messed with Linux, I haven't found anything that runs 1/2 as stable as anything Microsoft offers.
You are actually saying that Microsoft is most stable than Linux? :o :ph43r:
no, I'm saying that MS products are MORE stable---at least out of the box. How often have you installed an MS OS...and had issues from it RIGHT OFF THE BAT.
I'm not talking about after you installed all of your garbage software--I'm saying a basic default install, drivers installed + patches...how often has it crashed out on you?
Me--I'd say a few times, but not very often. Now Linux on the other hand...different story entirely. I've tried, I've really tried screwing with a bunch of different flavors of Linux and 99% of the time, I go through the pain in the a** of downloading 3-4 CD's, burning them, then installing them...only to end up with an OS that runs slower than my grandma (who's paralyzed).
You click on an \"INCLUDED\" application within Linux and...wait....wait...crap, it's not responding, use X-KILL or KILL-X whatever that stupid \"X\" thing is that ends dumb tasks that don't respond. I don't think I've ever had that problem with an application included in a MS OS.
Moving on up. Here's an example of how screwed up Fedora is. Fedora Core 2...default install/kernel. If you attempt to access the CD-ROM, when you select a file to copy it or access it...it disappears. Attempt to access from command-line...no dice. I don't know if this happens on all installs of FC2--but it happened REPEATEDLY on my Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 laptop. Kernel update fixed that.
Ok so no complaints.
COOL...Fedora 3 is out. I decide to install FC3 figuring...well, it's got to be better right? WRONG. First off, I tried to install the newest X Org server...that wouldn't work...just kept blowing up. So I said screw it. (even though it worked on FC 2 with no problems)-- Soooo I go to install the Nvidia driver for my Mobile Geforce...and that doesn't work either...even though it worked on FC2.
I'm telling you...Linux has its' place, but it's far from mainstream.
\"I'm telling you...Linux has its' place, but it's far from mainstream.\"
A little goes a long way, but a lot will go even farther ;)
But alas I have to agree with you. Linux needs a change for it to become mainstream. Remember that Microsoft sold the world, this is what people know. All they want is something that is straight forward. And when it's un-stable or something does not matter, we are all willing to take risks for an easier OS. B)
Microsoft literally copiedeverything which Apple did. Microsoft has MUCH better marketing skills, and thus, portrayed to the whole world that they discovered it. Apple needs to get off of their butt and start marketing their products in an appealing way. I think the I-pod is the first step in Apple's comeback.

Well, I think Windows XP 64-bit edition is a new breakthrough for Microsoft. Of course, Apple already had their 64-bit PowerMac G4's & G5's for more than 1 year. Apple computers have VERY clean and organized insides. Everything is compartmentalized, thus promoting an effective cooling method.

Too bad all of Apple's marketing is pure lies.
