the OEM H/W monitor software has an overclocking feature and i guess it was factory set at 1.55v for the NB. i am typing this message right now with it lowered to 1.50v so i'll just see how long it lasts at 1.50v. Vcore is 1.388v ram is 1.90v fsb 200.
i didnt look at the default voltage specs, this is just what the H/W monitor is running everything at.
maybe that was why my southbridge was running a bit warmer
i went in and unplugged everything except my video card and memory, started up in just bios and lasted for about 25 min with no lock ups
then i went and hooked up my hard drive back, went into windows and locked up after 5 min. however, after shutting down it never turned on randomly by it's self... yet!
so i then went back in to windows and disabled the h/w monitor software that was installed by the mobo driver cd.
no lock ups for 2 hours now. then i hooked up my eithernet again and shut down, some how it actually stayed off completely.
the only thing now that i have not added back to the system is my dvd/cdr rom.
i dont ever go for intel at all, but i was building a dvr cam server for our surveilance at work so i figured i'd try intel out. some one said for cam servers its good to go with intel, besides the dvr 16 cam card i bought only worked with intel or something like that.
i still own: INTEL's old X386 (4megs of ram and still works) lmao AMD XP (shipped with broken pin) AMD Thunderbird (burned out by some retard that didnt know what he was doing, so i took it from him) lol
still use: PII 350mhz (DL server lol. 320MB of mixed ram, way faster than the PIII) PIII 600 mhz (with one stick of RDRAM and a terminator bridge, way slower than my PII) PIV 2ghz (workstation server)
maybe the fact that INTEL has been desperate to improve their product image, that has caused them to take on risky advancements.
for every other power hungry dude out there, they must have the newest technological investments for their PC. wether DDRII is successful or even beneficial makes no difference to Joe Dirt; simply because he chooses to believe in only theory and not logical or idealistic uses.
so ideally, this seems to be another one INTEL's usual marketing tricks to fool more optimistic consumers to follow the bandwagon. some of those traditional strategies are practiced such as: \"Pentium 4 and it's HYPER threading will allow you to surf the internet much faster\". i love how they used emphasis on the MMX technology for the PIIs back in the day; they can come up with new instructions frequently and just give them all sorts of new names that SOUNDS flashy. all Joe Dirt knows is only what's new and not what it does, \"I GOTTA GET THIS!\", \"what does it do?\", \"i dont know but doesnt it look WAY COOL!?\".
chances are INTEL knew what they were getting into when advancing to DDRII. even if it is slow, INTEL knows once people buy the board for DDRII and realise what a bad move they made, they'll be stuck with a P4 board. now that they spent all that money on their new flashy DDRII board they'll be forced to buy or upgrade with more P4s. unless money is not an object. but who cares, because Joe couldnt recognize the difference anyway. \"duuuude, you're getting a P4\"
age of empires, that's retarded if you ask me lol. how much more demanding can AOE get? i mean, yeah it's using AI to an extent, but how much more processing power would you need? that just sounds like a marketing flashy thing for sales; since when did you hear about someone trying to squeeze a couple more ounces of juice for AGE OF EMPIRES? lol
what do you need AMR for? i remember it came with my Gigabyte - GA7DXR+ B) board for my socket A XP processor. i was one of the few to get AMR at the last minute before all manufacters phased AMR out.
the best thing for me is that i combined everything in one. so instead of having two seperate systems (a kick a$$ home theater system and a kick a** multimedia/gaming system), i just combined it into one and used my theater set up of speakers for my computer and theater. and only one dvd instead of two different sets (DVD rom). although i had to use analog for non-digital feeds.
