i have an onboard sound card (i will tell u which one later today...i'm kinda late as is...) but iw as wondering if the soundblaster 2zs (orw/e it's called) is really THAT much better than normal onboard sound

not for normal use. if your doing some hard core sound aplications ya. but for normal gaming on board is fine.

Not so fast. If you are an \"avid\" gamer, which I think you are since you're so into CS, then Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS is perfect for you. No point in buying Platinum or Platinum Pro because it's not worth it. Plus with the 2 ZS, I believe you get like 5 games (ie Splinter Cell, Tomb Raider, etc.).

Also,  the sound card is only as good as your speakers are.

On-board sound is O.K. but the only integrated sound I know of which comes very close to the Audigy series is NVIDIA's Sound Storm from there nForce 2 chipset.

So Yes, go Audigy.

I know thats why i dont use on board but is it worth the $150.00 for him to upgrade. I dont think unless he has like me 7.1 full THX sound systemv will mAKE A DIFRENCE. nice card means having nice speakers lol. My speakers cost me $385.00 lol but damb the sound is amazing.

lol i dont think its a big deal if i didnt have a lot of money and didnt want to go broke on board works fine

$150 for the card???!?!? and after a while i'll need to get new speakers? i have 4 altec lansings, bought them a LONGG time ago...back when i had my voodoo3 card...lol (over 4 yrs) i def don't wanna spend over 200 on a sound card n speakers....

lol....that'll be NEVER...but i'm so tempted to buy new speakers right now anyway....cuz my board supports 7.1 audio...ahhh..damnit...but like the way my room is setup...i can't place the speakers correctly as to get the most benefit out of them...

7.1 rocks you shuld see my computer room speakers everywhere lol. I have a big screen but do i watch DVD's on it ? No i watch dvd's on my computer lol
