Post your Venice overclocked specs here. By the way, I am thinking about a Venice or San Diego. Perhaps, the FX-57?  :guh:

Venice is cheaper and much better for overclocking than San Diego.

Go with the Venice.  It is by far a much better value.  The extra cache the San Diego has doesn't help much in most cases.  It would come in handy with CPU intensive tasks though.  Also the FX series is a complete waste of money.

just bought me a 3500+ venice today. 2.24 GHz on my HTT and still stable.  God i love this thing.

At the moment im runing 222x11 with 5x HTT ratio.  my corsair XMS extreme memory is runing 444 MHz. I find this HTT at this speeds compeats with a 265 FSB. i loose nothing in FPS.

The good venices get around 2.7-2.8GHz.  It sounds like you got a crappy one if that is your max.  What is the stepping?

EDIT:  I just realized you were not even using a divider.  Using a divider you should be able to bring that CPU much higher.

Did i say that was max? NO i did not. just said that i was testing how high i can get the HTT . My winchester had a 2.2 max for HTT this new core will do 2.3 to 2.4 so im told. If you read what i said again you will see i was talking about HTT NOT CPU SPEED. HTT is the CPU FSB / buss speed.

killed 8 sata hard drives this last year. MSI , gigabyte , abit , asus tried them all. none of the boards fully lock the PCI/agp buss locks and sata is tied to them buss locks. I find my overall benchmarks are about the same runing 225x5x11 with a 2.25 GHz HTT or 270x10x4 with a 2.16 GHz HTT . I only loose 1 FPS max in games and about 150 points in 3dmark03 and 50 points in 3dmark05.

The new venice rock they handle a lot higher HTT then the winchester. 2.16 was the highest i could get my HTT stable before but even then it wasnt stable in everything. So far with out realy trying i can get 2.25 GHz stable with the venice and its 100% in every game or program.

You never tried DFI or EPoX.

Didn't your Winchester give you around 2.7GHz?
