Some tell you not to always believe what you read because it is not hard fact. It is stories passed on from generation to generation. Does that statement tell you to not believe what it "true". What is the bible?

A missing link. It's what we don't know. If we don't know what it is, how do we know it existed?

I could go on but there are far more questions and far more things to say. I myself don't know, I'm 13 and I think I have a while to come up with my own beliefs.

Right now I am Jewish. Worst religion in my eyes. Right now I have fought many many times with my Rabbi about that their lying to us and feeding us false information. He says its not about facts its about religion. None of it is true. Right now Id rather believe science then religion because Id rather believe in true stuff then some religion. I see it as my temple just got together some people made up a random Torah all of which is made up myths. All this temple wants is money. Money, money money. They make you pay 2,500$ for a year for a family. They make you pay to have a bar mitzvahs. They make you pay to take a library book out of the library. They make you pay to go to school and get an education on their religion. They make you pay for having meeting with the rabbi and other faculty members. Theres my 2 cents.

I'm in the same boat as Vapor, I'm Christian, and I attend mass once in a while so I guess you could consider me an avid Catholic. But I still slightly believe in science, but I swing more towards the religious standpoint.

Religion is for the insecure.

I do not beleive in god, and i do not think religion is worth my time,  god is a religous being that has to do with the Christian, Roman Catholic, Protestant religions (and many others).

The reason i say religion is for the insecure is because religion feeds of the insecurities of the human race. As in, in times of need people turn to a "being of faith" wishing for it to fix this problem , when in reality you can fix this problem yourself, if you are secure with who you are and how u live your life."God" is nothing more than a being of faith for human beings to "lean on" in times of need . "God" does not exist , god is a being created by humans for use in times of need. Because of the huge lack of self confidence and self security. To fix our problems ourselves.

When you die, you die. In my opinion that's it. That's the end. You die, you sit in a hole. You are not alive. There is nothing after death. Humans can't conprehend that, so they create religion/god/heaven/hell etc.
Heaven and Hell were also created (IMO) to keep people doing better deeds and such. Not coveting, lust, gluttany or any of the other "Seven Deadly Sins".

also a mix of both for me. Some things you can't explain with science, so you will have to believe that it got something to do with god or something. However, there are enough things left of which you can explain with science.

There is much of science that need to be discover and much of religion that needs to be proved, so maybe they are both closely related. I guess time is the best answer, for now I believe in both.

Wow, It's sad being a Christian and seeing the clouds in some of your eyes. To answer the main topic, Sience and religion often go hand in hand; the flood, the Tower of Babel, the Dead Sea scrolls, are all proven by sience to be explainable. But if you say Religion can't sastain you becouse of the gray area, " the unexplained" let me enlighten you on a few facts you probably haven't thought about. A couple hundred years ago we thought the Earth was flat, do we now? We thought males had one more rib than females. Do we now? In our brains we have matter, 95% of our brain is made up of material we can't explain. There is 5% of matter in our brains called gray matter that cannot be explained at all, so would you disprove Sience because they don't know what the 5% is.

And as for the person who says Religion is for the weak and the ones who need something to cling to in times of pain. I would just like to ask you wich is more brave, the man who does what is right and has no fear of death because he KNOWS he will have everlasting life, or the man who goes by his own rules because he KNOWS there is'nt an afterlife. I think attoning for your sin/morals/ethics, is one of the bravest things you can do, and without your "deathbed religion" you are just a coward hiding behind a judgeless fate.

i myself am a stern catholic and do beleive in teh whole creation idea but i think the bible is shady and contradicts himself. i'm sure once i was told not to sleep and wait for jesus or something

however the science reasoning is just as much a tub of lard. how the world just propped out of nowhere is beyond me, something had to start the whole thing of (god possibly?)

but in terms of everyday life i take in both concepts and ideas
