I hate to correct you simple, but lately, more bugs were found in Firefox than IE. The issue is that once the spotlight turned on Firefox, more holes are being found, since hackers/crackers are targetting the browser.
The main reason IE is so unstable is because it is integrated with the OS. This is one of the biggest flaws you can make, unless you actually make a sturdy OS, which Microsoft has yet to do since WinNT and 2000.
The best browser/OS integration I've seen is Konqueror + KDE in Linux.

Well, in June there were only 4 critical IE exploits (16 total), and all were patched.. Yet at the same time there were about 48 firefox exploits, 12 of which were critical. (Numbers not exact, but I remember them being somewhere in that range.. taken straight from mozilla and microsoft via slashdot topic.)

Hackers (wether it be white hat or black hat) and general programmers that fiddle around with things that don't see themselves as hackers are finding exploits in firefox, and to say firefox isn't being targetted would be silly.. as it's the second most targetted browser ATM from what I have seen. I have seen sites that force dialog boxes for plugins and such in firefox within the past month, and the whole secure aspect that it originally had is gone. With SP2 and IE and a good configuration, I don't see them.. and at the moment I'd say IE is secure.
Ontop of all this, many browsers say that they are the most secure browsers.. and it's up for you to decide wether or not it is secure.. if you used a browser purely because of it's security, then you wouldn't be using firefox. you would be using something of your own creation, or a text browser. ;)

Those tests say differently.. and infact, many tests say differently.. I think I'll go with the majority, and the people that know more about browsers.
For a start, Mozilla suite is based on the gecko rendering engine. The gecko rendering engine requires a 233mhz cpu with at least 32mb ram.. on top of that the gecko rendering is far from the fastest rendering engine.. it cannot beat neither opera or mosaic based rendering engines (IE)
Find out for yourself, conduct your own tests, and you will see for yourself.

Those tests are the only proof which you have.
I trust PC World more. They showed that IE had the slowest rendering engine of all the browsers, so stating that IE is faster than Mozilla is foolish, sorry to be frank. And the majority says that Firefox is faster and all-round better than all other browsers. Personally, I prefer Mozilla Suite.
And the Opera vs. Mozilla/Firefox, it's an ever ending browser war. I have never seen any valid proof besides individuals testing, and we all know that some browsers work faster on certain computers than others.
For example, Firefox & Mozilla Suite work faster on my PC than Opera does.
Despite being bloated, standards uncompliant, buggy and dangerous, Microsoft's Internet explorer is fast. It is fast however due to the simple fact that it is integrated into windows and because it has a stone-age, limited rendering engine.
