from what i have seen. The ATI have clear graghics. Where Nvidia are power based cards with a punch.
I've done some reading up on ATI & NVIDIA Graphic's Cards, and found that ATI's PCIe cards have a huge performance advantage over all NVIDIA's cards.
Reason is that ATI uses a pure native PCIe solution where as NVIDIA uses there AGP interface & only bridges it & converts it to PCIe. So you have an NVIDIA card running through the AGP before it runs through the PCIe. This is obviously not a good solution & may cause bottlenecks later on when PCIe is understood better.
When PCIe is mastered a little more, then ATI's native solution will show its strength in performance.

from what i have seen the PCI-E has been very nice but not overly needed just yet. Will be a year before its more accepted. I am told here in Utah that AGP is still the most sold. AGP is still cheaper so like most people its more accepted. I am still geting people wanting me to build them $500.00 to $700.00 towers. I cant do that with PCI-E.
i must admit i am a huge ATI fan, maybe it's a canadian thing.. B) until recently i hav only ever owned ATI, and 1 matrox.. but with SLI i had to give NVIDIA a try, i bought a pair of 6600 gt's, 6800u's and a 3d1, i sold the 6600gt's in favour of a X850XT-P, :D
with image quality,(the 6800u and a X850) it's like comparing apple to oranges, if you're going to compare, compare them at their best, and you cant compare a 6800u against a X850 when the X850 is cranked up way past the 6800u quality at 16xAF/6xAA @ 1600x1200
however, 2x6800u's oc'd looks just as good or better! but like i say apples to oranges.. :P
But the 2 6800 Ultra's will put a dent in your pocket book. The SLI does work well though is very flavorable if you can afford it that is.
For me, the X800 XL is the best choice for now and when ATI comes out with there AMR (ATI's SLI) then we will see great competition because the AMR will be using 2 independent 16x PCI E bandwidths. The SLI shares the 16x with 8x & 8x.
Later I will also purchase an X850 XL or XT & put both the X800 XL & X850 XL/XT together in my AMR & see how fast it is. :)

If you can afford an X850XT PE, then you can surely afford ANYTHING.
