So, ATI is finally admitting that even X800's cannot compete with the awesome power of the 6800 Ultra, eh?

No, the problem is IMO that ATI didn't produce enough, & the demand was too great. So ATI took the easy route out & just came out with a newer core.

Even the X800 XL is great @ stock speeds, but I do admit that having 16 pixel pipelines need a little more core speed than the stock 400MHz.

6600GT is nice as well. Only X800XT/PE & X850's are worthy enough to beat it.

6600GT blows away all 9800's, as well as X300's, X600's, and X700's.

No, I am talking about 6600GT. I saw in a couple benchmarks about how it beat an X600 & X700.

Think there is a miss conception here.  There has been a few concerns about how I got the scores I did with 3dmark03 and 3Dmark05. I use drivers and Gforce tweak utility?s that let me turn the quality down on open GL and Direct 3D. I can also turn down my Texture quality in the drivers and utility. It?s a way to cheat with out changing the test settings. Still a valid test. All it shows is that I can control what my card dose. This is a test run high quality in driver settings. This is how I run my games. The problem is I can only run 456 MHz core and 1.17 memory at these settings. Running high quality means more heat.

Yes, that is 100% valid & smart. You probably get nice gaming performance with that setup.

A skipped a page or two,

But here is what I think.

the ATi cards are better than the Nvidia cards in quality of performance hence the drop in FPS when gaming,

I have looked at the same benches with lots of different cards and how they \"look\" and play.

The Speed for regular X800XT PE:520MHz-core 1120MHz-memory Is fine, BUT
I clocked and unlocked a X800 PRO VIVO and it was 17.6% better than the X800XTPE which i what the X850XTPE is based on :) they just put a bigger HS on it..

Bench marks comments, you see a mile is a mile, weather your walking or driving, so againt the same test the systems should show the same results.

Heres the cards line up (sort of)

All SLI cards here.
X800 PRO VIVO 6800Ultra
6800GT 6600GT  X800 XTPE

The 6600GT dosent come up to the 6800 U what so ever but in SLI mode there one of the top cards. and is a little LOW on the 6800GT and medeoka to good against a 6800 and top against the 6800LE

The X800 still come in better than the Nvidia cards tested  and infact they seam to push away from the nividia scoring. which is like taking a X800 and puting the 6600 against the ultra.

Im not favored to any brand, but ATi wins in my books. how ever the Nvidia cards are targeted more towards gamers where as the ATI cards are more all rounders, the video rendering on the Nvidia card is nice though :D

In summery, there isnt much between the cards but with the NEW R520 from ATI I think that Nvidia will look slow.

rory i have seen ATI next to my Nvidia. I know first hand its not true that ATI have better quality. h**l ATI still use 2.0 in oppen GL for god sakes

Ill put my Nvidia next to ATI any day and compare.

All just lies with no facts. If your seeing that the ATI is better then the guy with the Nvidia is an idiot.

I would take it that you have a TFT screen then?
this is why you may not see the difference, I have high spec TFT and CRTs, I can see a difference in the CRT;s but not really in the TFT;s

Open GL isnt every thing you know..

Good CTR's are better in image quality right now. LCD's & TFT's are getting there, but for now they are second to the CTR's.

Now, the difference is not that big of a deal, & LCD's are getting better by the day with 8mn responce times & Ultra Btight/Magic Bright setting for extreme resolution clarity.

CRT's are not being made all that much, so a top of the line LCD is a great choice.

Later,
