Well I just went hunting through some mid range priced PSUs I think that the best one has to be the tagan 580W U2
Best suply lines amps with OC'ing for my rig.. I have a fortron its very good just not good enought as Im comming on to the 30% overclock which need more power!
Htachi have ggod speed and data ranges the WD 1200JJ was one of the higher scoring performer I posted a link on HWA abotu sata2 drives there about the same as and faster than raptors with high constant data rates.
PC geek, the reason you system is getting those speeds is becuase you have a quad raid 0 array..
Well, IT had to go, Dont forget I build computers for other people and it was some one elses, I got some OK results with it and the system wasnt bad really, I managed to rank 2ND from All AMD64 with 6800 Utlra GPUs which wasnt bad considering it only had 6600GT's but still the system was betten by the P4 @ 4Ghz
Over all the system against the whole world of system came 111th thats is based on mainly OC systems. Apparently the FX55 that I had was about on target for the performance levels that I do have, from what I saw the FX performed less better as it was clocked to go faster. lets say stock@ 2.6 gave 12K the 2.9 clock only gave about 12.8K which is way off mark.
The funny thing is that The 3200 scores 8.6K @stock and scores 12K @2.4Ghz so as you can see this really stands out.
What I have done is sent the system down to its new owner, I have contacted AMD to get a hand picked processor where then I will go to the persons system and replace the CPU for free.. a nice 300 mile round trip.
I have got all my data up together and will be running up a report some time next week and putting all the information on the site. all links and info, which should make some good reading I have a few computer mags interested in the story as well as a few other people world wide. I am not sure where I will be placing the info, on the gaming site or the main site, I should think that it will be 100% in the forum and then in the gaming site as well.
If you guys could help, Could you send / post some sisoftsandra 05 Arithmetic bench marks for Your CPUs I will also need to have the FSB, mulitplier, HTT setting and the final clock with the info that your system scores. If you do know the CPU batch and week/year code.
Your input will be very helpful in giving a bigger picture. I am interested in the 3500, 3800, FX55 benches as well. I really want to stick it to AMD on this one, because somthing isnt right.
OK ive done loads of testing as I got the NEW CPU today. its has to be a batch of lemons. It just so happened that the retail i bought this time was the exsact same batch and die code :@ CAA2C 0905 FPMW
BUT it was better... 2.92Ghz fully stable. 242X 12 1.65-1.68 (maxout out on a MSI neo4 plat SLI) it wasnt bad benching but the result were jumping all over the place from 64 - 84 K on re-runs ??? WTF is going on there??
I tryed running it on my gigabyte mobo as well, i push past 1.7 and the system didnt get any Better, different Ram yada yada.
Aparently the 0507 BPMW are better chips for clocking with alot of people running these getting over 3 Ghz.
beat this also.. My air cooling run cooler than the water cooling i have? by 10oC since when have that been like the case, I have noticed that the water is misted and the junk has built up , i did clean it twice now to get it to clean out the engineering rubbish out of the parts, It been rising a bit every time I fire it back up (using waterchill system) and a PCcooler P9AC copper air cooler ( looks like the zalman7000cu)
I would take it that you have a TFT screen then? this is why you may not see the difference, I have high spec TFT and CRTs, I can see a difference in the CRT;s but not really in the TFT;s
the ATi cards are better than the Nvidia cards in quality of performance hence the drop in FPS when gaming,
I have looked at the same benches with lots of different cards and how they \"look\" and play.
The Speed for regular X800XT PE:520MHz-core 1120MHz-memory Is fine, BUT I clocked and unlocked a X800 PRO VIVO and it was 17.6% better than the X800XTPE which i what the X850XTPE is based on :) they just put a bigger HS on it..
Bench marks comments, you see a mile is a mile, weather your walking or driving, so againt the same test the systems should show the same results.
Heres the cards line up (sort of)
All SLI cards here. X800 PRO VIVO 6800Ultra 6800GT 6600GT X800 XTPE
The 6600GT dosent come up to the 6800 U what so ever but in SLI mode there one of the top cards. and is a little LOW on the 6800GT and medeoka to good against a 6800 and top against the 6800LE
The X800 still come in better than the Nvidia cards tested and infact they seam to push away from the nividia scoring. which is like taking a X800 and puting the 6600 against the ultra.
Im not favored to any brand, but ATi wins in my books. how ever the Nvidia cards are targeted more towards gamers where as the ATI cards are more all rounders, the video rendering on the Nvidia card is nice though :D
In summery, there isnt much between the cards but with the NEW R520 from ATI I think that Nvidia will look slow.
My current settings. Athlon 64 3200+(90nm)@ 2.70GHz OCZ EL GOLD Dual Ch DDR540 512MB X 2 (CL 2-2-2-8 @ 1T). DFI LANParty nF4 Ultra- D PCI-E x16 ATI Radeon X800XL (Off to ATI for Repairs/Replace) ATI Radeon X700Pro (Temp Card. Quite Nice in Performance) OCZ 520W Power Stream etc.
I have to agree with Super on this. I don't think he is saying it. It's just fact, that is all ;)
When you clock RAM it really depends on the stock times and the voltages it run at the stock times at.
I know alot of you got by the 2.2.2.5 say, But there is several other times that should be considered, I some times spend some time reading the while papers and tech info jst to get a good idea on what the ram is really like.
If there were some DDR500 with a 2.3.3.4 Clocks then this would be idea because a 3.4.4.6 should see DDR600 speeds :D But then for max pefromance its really down to the TRC, and the Tras being able to hold it.. Im not a fan of corsair XMSI ve seen this in action on a FX53 its was somthing time 4560Mb/s and there was two gig's I think, which is pretty poor..
My prefrerd type currewntly is OCZ, as Ive not really had the checne to get a good trial run on the Adata myself.
I wrote off to DFI to get some of their latest mobos sent through for testing. I will take a look at these and get back on to Corsair and the other RAM makers to see what they have.. I like doing testing as I like to break as much stuff as possible ( with out the use of water and hammers) but then I know if I build systems then send them out that there safe and stable..
Gigabyte must be the worst RAM supporting mobo I have ever seen, the SPD are way off which make the ram clock slower by about 10-20% which is of course very inportant to get a GOOD motherboard to go with the rest of the kit..
I got my self a single stick of 512MB DDR400 OCZ premium RAM while I am waiting for the other one -- counting down the days --
The stock clocks are 2.3.3.7 @ 2.6V New egg has this pegged @ 2T where i had not issues running it @ 1T
I ran it upto 225FSB which isnt bad as it wasnt a test on how well the ram will clock before it would start to fail
Ive hit just under 2.90 MB/s with it @ 204 and at 208 ive gone over 3200+ MB/s
I know there is REV2 that may use other chips but there is quite a jump in the chips sets that offer lower clocks but seaming as they all made the same way apart from the little chip on the end that defines the clocks and info..
I will go into testing this some more to see how tight this ram will run and how high it will clock....
Crucail Balistix DDR500
I really didnt think to much of this ram nor did it clock well, the times are loser and the simple fact that I managed to get a better clock from some ddr 333 ( the MICRON) its seams ODD that this ram costs over 5 times more ( balistx 2X512 Mic 2X 256) I have never been a fan of crucial ram whats so ever as ever system build that i have seen ( not made) with this ram seamed to be running slower. I benched to bandwidth on the crucial and found that it was running slower, simply that the current system I am running I put the CB in and the Micron and well the CB didnt boot past 246FSB whichit is rated to run @ 250 thougth the times were 3.4.4.8 and the micron was 2.2.2.7 I did leave the times @ stock. the Micron clocked to 200FSB and had fan to 220 FSB considering this is DDR333 thats pretty good..
Everyone should undertand that 1 Clock cycle can make a massive difference in weather the system will boot and how much you get from your RAM by around 800MB/s per stick!
Form the results and information the main way ahead for buying ram will be Adata where it kicked out a massive 315 FSB
ALSO... The main bandwith of the AMD CPU ( winchesters) are about 4500MB/s so you really need to get to these speeds just to get in with some change, or for a peak performance you need 9500MB/s on the memory so there is no bottlenecks on your system.
