it runs speedy or faster than aim, the network topology and the way it gets messages where they go is very optomized, secure, and speedy. Cant argue with that.
Yeah right. :ph43r: I looked at your blog and saw the pictures of the server. An AMD Duron at 1.7GHz? What a joke....
As long as the 1.7Ghz does the job I say B)
for now the server is actually 400mhz overclocked to 488. I ran several test versions of it and it handled fine with no take on the CPU (like maybe 1% or 2% for the whole java runtime)
It will eventyually have multiple servers. I have people in New Zealand, California, the UK, and ohio who are willing to dedicate bandwidth and a spare computer for hosting this.
in my experiences nothing got fixed. I had a friend with 98 rev 2 and it was crashing like mad. Then someone else had that prob and finally 1upgraded to 2000
I have a question. Why is it that every apple computer I see always has odd Ram numbers like 754MB, 489MB & not even like 512MB, 256MB, and 1024MB? Even there clock speeds are not an even number sometimes.
You won't catch AMD selling an Athlon 64 @ 2.66 GHz, but Intel you will.
because most macs come with 256mb ram, as in case with the older bowl shaped imacs it had 256 in an internal slot and then had an extra user upgradeable slot that you could stick another 512 into, to get 768. My iBook has 256 built into the mobo so then I added a card with 512. Do some math. Oh, apple doesnt lie about clock speed like most companies. On the ibook, the bus is 133 so you multiply that by 10 or 9 and you get 1.33 and 1.2. In several cases you will get a mac and it will be rated for a certain Ghz but it will have a few extra.
I ordered a brand spanking new iBook last week, for $1250 including tax, 1150 without, I got a 1.2ghz 12\" (a 14 or 15\" laptop is just way to big) with 768mb RAM, 60GB hard drive. www.apple.com/ibook
Firewalls can cause lots of trouble when first setting up your internet connection.
first step, get a router with a built in firewall. Second step, dont use a softwar e firewall on the pc, thats where the problems start. So far no hackage with just the router, Ive had the other software one on for a bit and it didnt catch anything.
Yeah I'll agree that Java has its uses...but it's being used in some bad ways by some piss poor developers.
A good example is an application my company just purchased--I won't go into details for confidentiality purposes of myself and also the crappy software manufacturers...but basically they used Java to write an ERP application that is used on ships that are out at sea.
This application runs slower than a man with no legs. It's a major piece of crap.
wow, that sucks. I am currently working on www.imjim.com, and we have a version that actually works that we havent released and it runs speedy or faster than aim, the network topology and the way it gets messages where they go is very optomized, secure, and speedy. Cant argue with that. :D
