I'm into sport alot and football is certainly a popular choice for me, but I just can't watch half of the footie matches - they are so boring! The stadiums are usually filled with fat, hairy men and women draped in the flags of their nations, and covered in alcohol. I mean, most of the bums that turn up for the matches because it:
a) gives them a chance to shout at something other than their wives/children/husband
b) gives them a chance to down beer absent-mindedly for 90 minutes (plus half-time, plus extra time)
c) gives them a chance to sing badly for about 45 minutes (the other 45 mins is shouting)
Honestly, if football 'fans' did what they do in the stadium out on the street, they'd either get shot by someone or arrested (which is what usually happens anyway in the pubcrawl that follows the match). I find it hard to believe that football was once a gentlemen's game.
An old saying goes "football (soccer) is a gentleman's game played by ruffians, and rugby is a ruffian's game played by gentlemen"

Quote:
Numerous attempts have been made to ban football games, particularly the most rowdy and disruptive forms. This was especially the case in England and in other parts of Europe, during the Middle Ages and early modern period. Between 1324 and 1667, football was banned in England alone by more than 30 royal and local laws. The need to repeatedly proclaim such laws demonstrated the difficulty in enforcing bans on popular games.
King Edward II was so troubled by the unruliness of football in London that on April 13, 1314 he issued a proclamation banning it: "Forasmuch as there is great noise in the city caused by hustling over large balls from which many evils may arise which God forbid; we command and forbid, on behalf of the King, on pain of imprisonment, such game to be used in the city in the future."
The reasons for the ban by Edward III, on June 12, 1349, were explicit: football and other recreations distracted the populace from practicing archery, which was necessary for war.

The final score is what matters, but it isn’t going to be that easy.
They played well and it always Beckhams delivery in making these goals.
Crouch should be shot over that panalty, but he scored a great hat trick so I'll let him off.

Eriksson played his strongest available lineup a week before England opens its World Cup campaign against Paraguay. It is also set to play Trinidad & Tobago and Sweden in the group stage of the June 9-July 9 tournament in Germany.
Owen and the lanky Crouch teamed up well up front and were a constant threat to the Jamaican squad.
You dont have much faith do you Andy, lol, I think its Englands turn to win the world cup, also i think with a 6 - nile victory for England is good because it will get our players on a high for the start of the World Cup.
