Why not England I hate it when people in neighbouring countries do that; I would support Scotland.
At the start of the England Sweden match I was thinking...
Sweden has come out gunning. What is going on? England get your act together and get a goal.If we're serious contenders for the World Cup we should be beating Sweden

Then..

80 mins: Ten minutes remain, and a game in which England appeared so comfortable at half-time is set for a tense finish. Sweden need a goal to get the win which will make sure they top the group and avoid Germany in the second round. They have the momentum and they are certain to go for it.

82 mins: Beckham gets a free-kick on the left and a rare chance to alleviate the tension. But the Real Madrid man hoofs the ball far too hard and it goes out for a goal-kick.

83 mins: Niclas Alexandersson is the first Swedish player to go in the book, for a foul on Joe Cole.

85 mins: GOAL Sweden 2-1 England
Fans across the nation heave a sigh of relief as Steven Gerrard nets his second goal of the tournament. Joe Cole supplies a superb cross and Gerrard heads powerfully past Andreas Isaksson.

Sweden 2-1 England

Steven Gerrard's goal appears to have made England's place at the top of Group B secure. And ensured that England will not be playing Germany.

I spoke to soon!!

England are destined to never beat Sweden ever again. Henrik Larsson appears to get the final touch after a long ball into the box. The England defence is in disarray.

Full time,
England are confirmed as Group B winners after a hard-earned point. There were positives for England, particularly with their first-half display. But a worrying injury to Michael Owen, and some horribly inept second-half defending means the question marks remain.

I'm not supporting England because I don't like their team much. I have very little respect for the English players - as football players, not as people - my favourite players are almost all Brazilian (Roberto Carlos, Ronaldo, Pele, Ronaldhino, to name a few) or Czech (Nedved, Baros, Cech, Koller). I also like Shevchenko, Henry and Ballack although they are neither Czech or Brazilian.

That last goal was just funny, I half thought the throw-in had gone in without a deflection from the angle I saw it >.< and I'm not much of a football watcher anyway, I get bored (only watched last few mins, though I can hear when somebody scores thanks to the pub across the road )  much prefer playing.

Watching football can be pretty frustrating (and a waste of time). I watched the Czech Rep. - Italy match yesterday for the whole 93 mins. It was pretty lame - the goals were kind of OK. All in all it was a really frustrating match - the Czechs took all the good shots on goal (by Pavel Nedved), but they were all saved. The Italian goals were not as good as the Czech goals might have been, except for the one by Mazzeratzi. Or whatever his name is. I much prefer playing football - watching it for 90 mins can be pretty boring.

I can watch for 90 minutes when there is
a) enogh food
b) enough drink
c) England is playing

I'm watching the England vs Portugual Quater final and it's Half time; Come on England!

I don't tend to find myself watching matches that England are not playing in all too often; and Mazzeratzi sounds like the name of a Pizza Topping

Back to the Match

The Free kick in he 13th minute was close...
Poor defending at the back from England. Luis Figo flights a free-kick in from the right, it evades everyone and clearly, to his surprise, reaches Gary Neville. The ricochet off his legs falls to Tiago but he cannot stab it beyond Paul Robinson.

7 fouls by England already.

Quote:
"Uproar as Wayne Rooney is sent off. Even David Beckham has recovered enough from his injury and tears to come to the sidelines to berate the referee. Several England players are unhappy that Portugal's players, led by Rooney's Manchester United team-mate Ronaldo, pleaded for the young striker a red card. England's fans feel a sense of real injustice and turn up the volume."

BBC Sport Match of the Day

54 mins: David Beckham's in tears on the touchline. On the field his replacement in the number seven shirt at Old Trafford is furious as a decision goes against him.

Hope springs eternal for England. They are not playing as if they are a man short and a new study by the German Institute for Economic Research shows that red cards that are handed out after half-time do not have a negative impact on the penalised team.

Looks like the Portugese goalkeeper has made a career out of saving penalties, and with no owen, beckham and rooney, we had no chance. The support was great from our Fans. I am going to lock this topic Nah not really

Female soccar is big in the US, haven't seen much of it... probably because the men can't play it And... the US win the Womens World Cup alot... because the teams that nations well in the world cup (mens ) don't care about it... and it gives countries like russia, usa and china a chance to have some sort of recognition... in their own little way
